Accessibility Statement
Commitment to Accessibility
AustriaTech is committed to making its websites accessible in accordance with the Austrian Web Accessibility Act (Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz – WZG), as amended, implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (Official Journal L 327, 2 December 2016, p. 1).
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.c-roads.eu.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with Conformance Level AA of the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1” and with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (2018-08), due to the following non-compliances and exemptions.
Non-accessible Content
The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:
a.) Non-compliance with accessibility regulations
Some images currently have alternative text that is not provided in an optimal technical or descriptive manner. In certain cases, automated testing tools flag these as errors, particularly where alternative text is too long. This may limit accessibility for users of screen readers.
On the homepage and the “About” page, the contrast ratio between headings and background images is in some cases insufficient. This may affect readability for users with visual impairments.
In the contact form (https://www.c-roads.eu/contact-us/), automated testing tools report a “missing form label”. The form is technically implemented— in coordination with the responsible agency — using hidden form fields; however, limitations for certain assistive technologies cannot be ruled out.
On some pages, identical targets are linked multiple times. This is flagged by testing tools as “redundant links”. While these multiple links serve navigation and content completeness, they may make orientation more difficult for users of assistive technologies.
b.) Disproportionate burden
Some PDF documents available on the website are not fully accessible, particularly older documents and documents from third parties. Retrofitting all existing PDF documents to full accessibility would require disproportionate organizational and technical effort. Newly created PDF documents are made accessible wherever possible.
Some embedded YouTube videos lack subtitles or do not provide them in sufficient quality. In some cases, these are older contents or contents over which AustriaTech has limited control regarding technical provision. Providing high-quality subtitles for all existing videos retroactively would currently constitute a disproportionate burden.
c.) Content outside the scope of applicable legislation
Where content (e.g. documents or videos) from third parties is embedded or linked on the website and lies outside AustriaTech’s sphere of influence, no guarantee can be given for its full accessibility. Such content may fall outside the scope of the Web Accessibility Act on a case-by-case basis.
Preparation of this Accessibility Statement
This statement was prepared on 8 June 2026.
The assessment of the website’s compliance with the WZG implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 was carried out by means of a self-assessment based on WCAG 2.0 at conformance level AA in June 2026.
The following were reviewed: the homepage, an overview page, a news page, the search function, and the search results.
Feedback and Contact Information
The services and content on this website are intended to be accessible to all users. If you encounter barriers that are not described in this statement, or if you identify deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements, please inform us.
Please send all feedback and suggestions to Daniela.Wollrab(at)austriatech.at with the subject “Report of a barrier on the website c-roads.eu”. Please describe the issue and include the URL(s) of the affected website or document.
Enforcement Procedure
If you are not satisfied with the response received via the contact option above, you may submit a complaint to the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via its contact form.
The FFG will examine whether the complaint concerns violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in meeting accessibility requirements by the federal government or entities attributable to it.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG will issue recommendations and propose measures to the federal government or the relevant legal entities to remedy the identified deficiencies.
