The Connecting Europe Days 2026 provided an opportunity for the European C-Roads Platform to celebrate ten years of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) deployment in Europe.
On 29th September, the progress achieved over the last 10 years through European cooperation have been highlighted during a pitch at the event’s Marketplace. From harmonised technical specifications to interoperable cross-border services, C-Roads has helped turn C-ITS into reality across Europe, supporting safer, more sustainable and more efficient mobility.
A key milestone was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the European C-Roads Platform, MATIS 2 and VERKKO, establishing a framework for closer cooperation on C-ITS deployment and operation across Europe. The partnership will focus on applying and further developing C-Roads specifications, sharing deployment experience and use cases, supporting a sustainable European C-ITS Deployment Strategy, advancing cross-testing and validation, and evaluating the benefits of C-ITS. By combining European harmonisation with practical deployment experience, this cooperation aims to strengthen interoperability and support the transition from deployment to sustainable operation at European scale.
Throughout the event, visitors had the opportunity to meet the C-Roads team at stand 31, explore the results of ten years of C-ITS deployment and learn more about upcoming cross-border tests and future developments.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Brussels and contributed to the discussions. Together, we are shaping the next chapter of C-ITS in Europe.
